Honoring JB Parke
John Brinton “JB” Parke was a 2006 graduate of Coginchaug High School. JB attended Region 13 schools 1st - 12th grade. He loved growing up there and it’s clear his community loved him and helped to shape the incredible person he was. He passed away in December 2021 at the age of 33 after an 11 month battle with a rare, aggressive form of Kidney Cancer.
JB loved his sports, both playing and spectating.
JB exhibited all the great sportsmanship qualities in every sport he played - baseball, basketball, golf. While there is no doubt he was a fierce competitor, and challenged himself to always work on improving, he was also a humble leader on the field and course, generously complimenting, encouraging and supporting others, in whatever game he was involved.
His spirit and memory will be kept strong through family and friends and the kind acts of others who honor and remember him with events like this one. Funds generated from the JB Parke Golf Tournament will go towards two great causes: a CRHS Scholarship established in JB's name to be awarded annually to a deserving CRHS student, as well as the Connecticut Cancer Foundation, an organization that provides financial assistance to Connecticut cancer patients and their families with basic living expenses and to fund cancer research.
